My sister’s birthday is coming up this month, and she has a green thumb and loves working in the garden. I decided, with the weather changing and the gardening becoming more pruning and cleaning up, that I would give her one last butterfly for the season.
I placed a beautiful stencil on my cardstock and sprayed over it with Glimmer Mist to give a soft gray shimmer background. Next, I stamped the butterfly image directly onto the background using water-resistant black ink.
I then colored the butterfly using a combination of purple and orange watercolor pencils and a waterbrush.
I added a hint of shading around the butterfly with gray watercolor pencils. I softened it with a waterbrush.
I stamped the sentiment across the top of the wings of the butterfly. Then I trimmed the image panel to fit my card front.
Finally, I punched two border strips from white cardstock and adhered them to the top and bottom of the image panel. As a last touch, I added tiny adhesive pearls to the borders.
