Necktie Flower Pillow

Recycle Dad’s old ties into this fun flower pillow to add a memory-filled conversation piece to your home décor. Flea market or vintage ties work great too!

Materials

  • Printed fabric, 3/8 yd.
  • Neckties, eight
  • Cording, 1-1/2 yds.
  • Fiberfill stuffing

Tools

  • Sewing machine and matching thread
  • Sewing needle
  • Dritz Aluminum 1-1/2” Cover Button Kit

Basic Supplies

scissors, ruler

Directions

STEP 1

For pillow front and back, cut two 11-1/2” squares from printed fabric.

STEP 2

Using 1/4” seam allowance, machine-sew around squares, leaving 3” opening for turning. Trim seam allowance; turn pillow right side out. Stuff; slipstitch opening closed.

STEP 3

Cut eight 3-1/2” lengths from end of each tie. Arrange “petals” in center of pillow, forming flower. Adhere petals to pillow, gathering cut petal edges as needed.

STEP 4

Follow manufacturer’s instructions to cover button with printed fabric. Adhere button to flower center.

STEP 5

Sew cording around pillow.

  1. My Father passed away several years ago I couldn’t bring myself to give his ties to Goodwill. This will be a perfect way to make his ties into pillows and give them to my children and nieces. A wonderful idea and remembrance
