Flowers For Mom Card

Stamp and watercolor a masterpiece for Mother’s Day or Mom’s next birthday.

Materials

Basic Supplies

paper trimmer, scissors, ruler, pencil, stamp cleaner, non-stick craft sheet

Directions

STEP 1

Make 5-1/2”x4-1/4” gold top-fold card. Sponge edges Gathered Twigs using Ink Blending Tool.

STEP 2

Cut smaller panel from desired paper, sponge edges Gathered Twigs, and mat on brown cardstock. Adhere to card.

STEP 3

Cut paper strip same width as patterned panel, sponge edges Gathered Twigs, and mat on brown cardstock. Die cut brown border strip, trim, and adhere to back bottom edge of layered strip. Stamp Jet Black sentiment and adhere strip to card.

STEP 4

Stamp Jet Black watering can image onto watercolor paper. Using photo as guide, outline individual sections of image using watercolor pencils. To blend colors, dip edge of blending nib into Gamsol, then pull color into desired areas using circular motion. Repeat until entire image is colored.

STEP 5

Using paper trimmer, trim image down so only a few portions extend beyond edge. Detail cut those portions of image.

STEP 6

Sponge edges of image panel Gathered Twigs. Mat on brown cardstock and adhere to card with foam dots.

Tip

  • Create a coordinating fresh floral centerpiece for Mom inside a new watering can. It’s always fun to have new garden tools.

Motorcycle Fun!

Stampendous is getting geared up to release their new stamps. I am sharing a sneak peek of one of their new stamps called Motorcycle Elements W097.  I was thinking this would be a great card for a boy on his birthday!

1. Stamp image on white cardstock using black ink. Repeat on another piece of cardstock. Cut first image into circle using die or circle cutter. Punch circles from various patterned papers and cardstock.

2. Cut patterned paper and cardstock into strips of varying size. Cut 4-1/4″x5-1/2″ white cardstock background panel.

3. Color both stamped images using STAEDTLER Karat Aquarelle watercolor pencils and waterbrush.

4. Sponge edges of the circle using blue and green dye inks. Sponge edges of background panel using the same dye inks.

5. Detail cut remaining motorcycle image and adhere to circle image using foam adhesive dots.

6. Adhere white cardstock panel to 4-1/4″x5-1/2″ card base of choice.

7. Adhere patterned paper and cardstock strips to background panel.

8. Adhere punched circles randomly around the background.

9. Adhere stamped circle element to card using foam dots.

Birthday Flowers Card

1. Make 5-1/2”x4-1/4” Wild Lilac top-fold card.

2. Die cut/emboss Fancy Ribbon Threader #4 shape from Pearl paper. Leaving die template in place, stencil opening using sponge dauber and Grape Jelly ink. Remove die template.

3. Weave ribbon through openings in die-cut panel and tie bow at bottom. Adhere panel to card with foam squares.

4. Die cut/emboss Labels Four #6 shape from white cardstock. Leaving die template in place, sponge band of Cantaloupe ink horizontally across center of cardstock. Sponge Bamboo Leaves ink across bottom and Grape Jelly ink across top. Remove die template. Adhere to card with foam squares.

5. Die cut/emboss Flower Burst shape from white cardstock. Leaving die template in place, stencil flower openings Grape Jelly and grass/leaf openings Bamboo Leaves. Adhere gems to two large flower centers.

6. Die cut/emboss Fancy Ribbon Threader #2 shape from white cardstock. Leaving die template in place, stencil opening Grape Jelly. Remove die template. Stamp Grape Jelly sentiment in center of shape. Adhere to card as shown with foam squares.

Tip

  • Die cut blossoms from black cardstock to create a chic silhouette effect.

Birthday Balloons Card

Brightly stamped balloons and wishes for a happy birthday make this card the perfect greeting for that someone special.

Materials

  • Cardstock: pear green, pink
  • Paper: light green, light pink, pale blue
  • Dark pink ribbon, 1/8”

Tools

  • Stamps: “Happy Birthday” stamp of choice, Paper Salon Simply Ribbons Tailored Tin
  • Ink Pads: pear green, pink, sky blue
  • Sewing machine & pink thread
  • McGill Oval Paper Punch, 1-5/16”x1-13/16”
  • AdTech Permanent Glue Runner

Basic Supplies

paper trimmer, ruler

Directions

STEP 1

Make 4-1/4”x5-1/2” pear green side-fold card.

STEP 2

Cut 4”x5-1/4” piece from pink cardstock; adhere to card front. Machine stitch around edges.

STEP 3

Stamp sky blue dotted ribbon on pale blue paper; stamp pear green rickrack on light green paper; stamp pink striped ribbon on light pink paper. Punch oval from each color, making sure stamped ribbon runs vertically. Overlap and adhere balloons to card front as shown.

STEP 4

Machine zigzag stitch from bottom of each balloon so they cross as shown. Tie ribbon bow; adhere below balloons where stitching crosses.

STEP 5

Stamp pear green “happy birthday” to card top.

Tip

  • Instead of stamping design, use coordinating patterned papers to create balloons.

Color Fragments

Stampendous has this fun new product called Color Fragments. You may ask what are Color Fragments? Color Fragments are just that, bits of pure color you can glue on to any surface with any adhesive. Sprinkle them into melting embossing powders for an amazing Encrusted Jewel look. Crush with your fingers for smaller particles. I have used them on several projects and I love how they add texture, color, and a touch of whimsy to my projects.

Here is close-up view of a few of the different color fragment colors. They come in all different shades to coordinate with any project.

On this card, I used them to actually color in my butterfly after I had stamped the image.

I applied a layer of Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Paper Glue to the surface of the butterfly, applying it only to the area I wanted to cover with the first shade of Color Fragments. After I put the glue on, I sprinkled the Color Fragments over the glue, pressed down with my fingers, and shook off the excess. I repeated the process until the butterfly was completely colored. Because the Color Fragments are thin, you can rub off excess fragment after the glue dries. When I had finished applying all of the colors, I added a layer of Beacon Adhesives Fast Finish to give the butterfly a glossy finish.

On this card, I just dripped glue across random areas of the card and sprinkled a mix of Color Fragments to coordinate with the colors in the image and the paper. I love the confetti effect this creates.

The Color Fragments were applied after I had added a layer of Embossing Enamel around the edges of the photos. I applied Versamark ink on the cardstock and sprinkled with Embossing Enamel. I heat embossed the enamel and, while it was still hot, I sprinkled the Color Fragments into the Embossing Enamel.

Big Wishes

We have a few January birthdays to celebrate and I am always in need of birthday cards for this time of the year. I took a look at my Christmas stamps to see what could be used for a wintery birthday card.  This sweet holiday fairy is perfect for a girl card.

1. Stamp image onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink.

2. Color image using Copic markers. Start with lightest color and leave a slight gap before lines. Add layers of shading using the next two shades of the color and blend with the lightest pen.

3. Add additional shading to image using gold watercolor pencil. Add highlights with white gel pen. Add a touch of Stickles glitter glue to the berries; let dry.

4. Cut image out using detail scissors.

5. Cut white cardstock panel slightly larger than image; mat on blue cardstock. Adhere image with foam dots as shown.

6. Make blue top-fold card. Cut and layer white cardstock and blue/white paper onto card front. Adhere image panel to card.

7. Stamp sentiment using black ink on white cardstock; matte on blue cardstock. Adhere to card as shown.

8. Punch series of snowflakes from white cardstock. Adhere to card along right side of cardstock panel.

Sprinkled With Fun Card

Tools

  • Polyform Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine
  • Oven
  • Ceramic tile
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Embroidery Deep Edge Punch
  • Stamps: Penny Black Sweet Thing; Hero Arts Cupcakes Clear Set, Birthday Clear Set
  • Large acrylic block
  • Tsukineko Ink Pads: StazOn Jet Black; Brilliance Dew Drop Pearlescent Rust, Pearlescent Ivy
  • Watercolor pencils
  • Adhesives: paper adhesive, 3M Scotch Brand Quick-Dry Adhesive

Basic Supplies

paper trimmer, detail scissors, ruler, pencil, craft knife, small paintbrush, toothpick

Directions

Card

(Note: Start with clean hands and work surface. Good work surfaces include waxed paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean hands between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F for 30 minutes per 1/4” of thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. Do not use microwave oven. Do not exceed above temperature or recommended baking time. Wash hands after use.)

1. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F. Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay.

2. For best results, condition all clay by running it through Clay Conditioning Machine several passes on widest setting. Fold clay in half after each pass and insert folded side into rollers first.

3. Mix large pinch of White clay with half of Orange clay to create marbled color. With Clay Conditioning Machine on #2 setting, roll marbled clay into long sheet. Place sheet on ceramic tile.

4. Stamp black cupcake row image onto clay sheet. Using craft knife, trim around top of cupcakes. Trim strip to 4-1/4” long; leave clay on tile and set aside.

5. Roll ball of marbled orange clay same size as cherry on top of Sweet Thing stamp cupcake. Place on tile with stamped cupcake border; be sure pieces do not touch. Roll six tiny Orange balls and six tiny Bright Green Pearl balls same size as trim on cupcake border. Place tiny balls on tile; be sure pieces do not touch. Use toothpick to indent center of each tiny ball. Bake as directed above. Allow to cool and set aside.

6. Stamp black Sweet Thing image onto white cardstock; let dry. Color image with watercolor pencils; paint over colors with water to create blended effect. Let dry. Detail cut image.

7. Make 4-1/4”x5-1/2” white side-fold card. Cut 4-1/4”x5-1/2” green paper panel; ink edges Ivy and adhere to card front.

8. Stamp black sentiment onto orange paper; ink edges Rust. Mat sentiment on larger orange paper piece; ink edges Rust and adhere to card as shown.

9. Border punch orange paper strip; trim to 4-1/4” long and adhere to top of card. Adhere girl image to card as shown.

10. Adhere clay pieces to card with Quick-Dry Adhesive; let dry.

Tip

Coat stamped cupcake with adhesive and sprinkle with ultra-fine glitter for a sugary look.
