  • DecoArt Texture Stencils by Tracy Moreau Brocade & Berry Borders
  • Candles

Tools

  • DecoArt Palette Knife
  • Royal & Langnickel Paintbrushes: Royal Aqualon Glaze/Wash, Series 2700, 3/4”; Sable Standard Handle Fan Blender, Series 5030, #2
  • Beacon Adhesives Quick Grip All-Purpose Permanent Adhesive

newspaper (to cover work surface)

Note

Let dry between steps.

Candleholder

1. Place clay pot upside down on covered work surface. Position Berry Border stencil on clay pot.

2. Use palette knife to apply Texture Stucco on open areas of stencil. To remove stencil, hold one end of stencil down with fingers and carefully lift opposite end.

3. Repeat stenciling around pot. Wash stencil immediately.

4. Use glaze/wash brush to paint pot and saucer Lamp Black.

5. Use fan blender brush to drybrush pot and saucer Champagne Gold.

6. Adhere saucer to pot as shown. Place candles on saucer.

Beaded Unity Candle

Add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your wedding ceremony with this sparkling Beaded Unity Candle.

Materials

  • Clear glass cylinder vase, 3-1⁄2” diameter, 8-3⁄4” tall
  • White floating candle
  • Rub-on wedding sentiment of choice
  • Bead Treasures Crystal Oblong Czech Glass Bead Mix (available at www.hobbylobby.com, sku #410704)

Tools

  • Deckle decorative-edged scissors
  • Ultra-fine iridescent glitter
  • Thermo O Web PeelnStick Double-Sided Adhesive

Basic Supplies

scissors, tray, water

Directions

STEP 1

Follow manufacturer’s instructions to apply rub-on transfer of choice to upper center of vase as shown.

STEP 2

Use regular scissors to cut two long strips of desired width from adhesive to fit around top and bottom of vase. Trim one long edge of each with decorative-edged scissors. Remove backing and adhere to top and bottom of cylinder, aligning straight adhesive edges with top and bottom of vase and overlapping short ends. Add small pieces of adhesive to fill any gaps as needed.

STEP 3

Remove remaining backing. Holding vase over tray, sprinkle bead mix over adhesive. Gently tap off excess and use fingers to press beads to adhesive. Repeat until all adhesive is covered. Sprinkle glitter over beaded areas; tap off excess.

STEP 4

Fill vase with water to just above sentiment; place floating candle in vase.

Tip

  • For a subtle yet different effect, change the color of glitter to match your wedding colors.

Valentine Candle Jar

Burn this candle to show your loving thoughts are aglow for that special someone who warms your soul!

Materials

  • Glass items: recycled quart jar, votive candle holder with lid
  • DecoArt Liquid Rainbow Glass Paints: Burgundy Blast, Fuchsia, Tickled Pink
  • DecoArt Liquid Rainbow Black Liquid Leading
  • Burgundy ribbon, 1⁄8”, one yard
  • Buttons, one each: hot pink, 3⁄4” ; pink, 1⁄2” ; light pink, 1⁄2”
  • Red votive candle

  • DecoArt Liquid Rainbow Styrene Painting Blank

Basic Supplies

scissors, masking tape, straight pin

Directions

STEP 1

Print and cut out pattern. Tape pattern to underside of leading blank; trace lines with leading. Repeat for two “sets” of hearts. Let dry 1-2 hours.

STEP 2

Follow manufacturer’s instructions to fill in: one heart Tickled Pink; two hearts Fuchsia; two hearts Burgundy Blast. (Note: Use pin to pop large air bubbles.) Fill in candle holder lid with Burgundy Blast; let dry 24 hours.

STEP 3

Carefully peel hearts from blank; apply to jar. Cut three 12” lengths from ribbon; tie around jar and trim ends at angle. Adhere buttons over knot; let dry. Insert candle holder into jar and candle into holder.

Other Options

  • Place hearts on window, mirror, vase, or any glass surface.
  • Make other holiday decorations in same way. Use coloring book pictures as patterns.
