  • Ecstasy Crafts Adhesives: Be Creative Double-Stick Tape, 40mm wide (BC40), 5mm (BC5); Joy! Crafts 3D Foam Pads, 1mm (65000011)

Basic Supplies

paper trimmer, scoring tool, ruler, tweezers, glue stick

Directions

STEP 1

Cut 10-1/2”x7-1/4” strip from navy blue heavyweight cardstock; score and fold to create 5-1/4”x7-1/4” side-fold card.

STEP 2

Cut one of each four colors of lightweight cardstock to measure 5-1/2”x7-1/2”.

STEP 3

Die cut village from white cardstock. (Note: Die is slightly smaller than width of cardstock. Cut village design to fit card at each edge.)

STEP 4

Place die at top of strip and cut out trees and hills from lightweight navy blue, green, and black cardstock. (Note: Die is slightly smaller than width of cardstock. Cut edges from design to allow it to fit on card.)

STEP 5

Using double-sided tape and aligning bottom edges, adhere black tree scene to card front on bottom edge of card as shown.

STEP 6

Align and adhere white village scene to card over black scene slightly lower than tree horizon, placing foam pads behind houses and trees to add dimension. Adhere remainder of white scene to card using double-sided tape; trim away bottom edge to fit bottom of card.

STEP 7

Repeat Step 6 for the remaining two pieces, using photo as placement guide.

STEP 8

Die cut Merry Christmas sentiment and attach to card using glue stick.

STEP 9

Remove one liner strip from 40mm double-sided tape; attach to white cardstock. Die cut two stars and add glitter. (Note: To add glitter, see tip below.) Adhere stars as desired to card front using foam pads.

Tip

  • To add Glitter Ritz, cut and adhere a strip of the Be Creative double-sided tape to cardstock; die cut stars. Peel back tape liner, hold design near edge using tweezers, and dip into glitter to cover entire star. Rub the glitter with your fingers to burnish the glitter to the cardstock (this will brighten the glitter even more). If there are any gaps, re-dip and re-burnish and then dust off access.

Elegant Artist Trading Cards

Today, I want to share a set of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) that I created for a Madonna and Child swap. They all started with the same technique.

I started with an old ledger background paper and a set of plastic snowflakes as my masks. Lay the snowflakes across the paper.

Spray the mist over the snowflakes:

Carefully remove the snowflakes and set aside. Let the paper dry.

Stamp the image using black archival ink . I selected the area of the snowflake to place my faces of my mother and child. I liked the play of the light and dark.

Cut the image down to size. The next step is to create a lovely shimmer over the image.

Ink up the entire surface of the image using VersaMark watermark ink. Cover the image with crystal embossing powder and heat emboss. After the image is embossed, it will look like this:

To add another layer of gloss, ink up the surface with VersaMark watermark ink again and heat emboss using clear embossing powder.

All of the images were taped to white cardstock. The cardstock was cut to standard ATC measurements of 2½” x 3½”.

To finish the ATCs, I used a variety of borders and embossing powders to add silver and gold details.

The first ATC uses a border punch and metallic foil tape. I attached it around the edges and accented with gems.

A few more variations using different colors, sticker borders, and embossing enamels:

 Products:

  • Stamps: Hero Arts ArtPrints Silent Night Holy Night, Inkadinkado Nativity 95633-Y
  • Stampendous Class Appeal Stickers
  • Ranger Archival Ink: Black, Coffee
  • Ranger Metallic Foil Tape
  • Stampendous Embossing Powder: Crystal, Clear
  • Stampendous Embossing Enamel: Aged Gold, Aged Silver
  • Tattered Angels Cornflower Daze Chalkboard Glimmer Mist
  • Signo Uni-Ball White Gel Pen
