Snowflake Favor Box

1. Download box template at www.thecuttingcafe.typepad.com. Following manufacturer’s instructions, cut box from red paper and lid from blue paper using cutting machine. If you don’t have a cutting machine, print the pdf pattern and cut by hand using craft knife and cutting mat.

2. Back snowflake window with transparency before assembling. Score and fold box and lid pieces as indicated, securing edges with double-sided tape.

3. Drop entire mint container inside box. Place lid on box.

4. Print sentiment onto kraft cardstock, punch into tag, and ink edges white. Adhere to box over snowflake.

5. Adhere trim and ribbon to lid edges using liquid glue; let dry. Adhere rhinestones with liquid glue; let dry. Adhere snowman charm with clear dots.

Tip

  • Personalize kraft tag with name to create favor place card for your holiday party.

Vintage Santa Spoon Ornament

Use ribbon, vintage images, and sparkling Dew Drops to transform a simple spoon into a keepsake ornament.

Materials

  • The Robin’s Nest: Cream Cardstock, Christmas Rub-On, Gold Dew Drops, Christmas Tree Collection Tear Drop Dew Drops
  • Ribbon: red/white striped satin, narrow red glitter

Tools

  • Small oval punch
  • Craft wire
  • Dark red glitter glue
  • Adhesives: glue gun, clear-drying liquid glue, foam squares

Basic Supplies

scissors, ruler, pencil

Directions

STEP 1

Apply large Santa rub-on to cream cardstock. Turn spoon upside down over image and trace bowl onto cardstock over Santa’s face, using photo as placement guide. Carefully cut out oval, preserving remaining rub-on image. Highlight image edges with glitter glue and let dry.

STEP 2

Using glue gun, adhere row of red Tear Drop Dew Drops, tips in, around bowl of spoon as shown. Let set. Layer several foam squares inside bowl of spoon and adhere Santa image.

STEP 3

Punch small oval from lower portion of remaining rub-on image; Christmas sentiment should be visible. Using clear-drying liquid glue, adhere gold Dew Drops around oval edges; let dry.

STEP 4

Tie multi-loop bows around spoon handle; secure with glue gun. Adhere oval image to center of bows.

STEP 5

Create small hanger from wire; thread under ribbon at back and secure with glue gun.

Tip

  • Work up a set of ornaments in assorted holiday colors by changing out ribbon and Dew Drops.

Be Merry Card

Combine chic paper tape and an easy watercolor technique to craft this merry-and-bright greeting.

Materials

  • White cardstock: textured, smooth
  • Queen & Co. Trendy Tape Vertical Stripes Teal

Tools

  • Punches: corner rounder, assorted circles
  • Printworks Stamps: Star Snowflake (B3845), Be Merry (A2764)
  • Black pigment ink pad
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Markers: Ranger Tim Holtz Evergreen Distress Marker, Imagination International COPIC Yellow
  • Ranger Inkssentials Glossy Accents
  • Water-barrel brush
  • Tiny stapler
  • Paper adhesive

Basic Supplies

paper trimmer, scoring tool, scissors, ruler, pencil, heat tool

Directions

STEP 1

Make 4-1/2”x6” top-fold card from textured white cardstock; round bottom corners.

STEP 2

Cut 4-1/4”x4” textured white cardstock panel; round bottom corners. Apply diagonal tape strips across panel as shown; trim tape even with panel edges. Adhere panel to card.

STEP 3

Stamp sentiment and four snowflakes onto smooth white cardstock, leaving space between images; heat emboss with clear powder.

STEP 4

Lightly trace snowflakes with Evergreen marker; use water-barrel brush to blend color, creating watercolor look. Color stars with yellow marker. Punch snowflakes into circles of assorted size; overlap and adhere to card along top of taped panel. Highlight stars with Glossy Accents; let dry.

STEP 5

Cut sentiment into small, notched flag; staple to upper left corner of card.

Tip

  • For a glitzy version of this card, use metallic tape and outline snowflake images with glitter glue instead of marker.

Joyeux Noel Card

Beautiful shades of teal and burgundy put a new spin on the traditional tones of the season. Lush, layered accents from Ruby Rock-it’s Joyeux Noel Collection give this card vintage-look elegance in an instant.

Materials

  • Burgundy cardstock

  • Teal/gold silk poinsettia

Tools

  • Sewing machine and dark teal thread
  • Border punches, two of choice
  • Modeling paste
  • Plastic dot-pattern mask
  • Chalk inks: dark teal, burgundy
  • Beacon Adhesives 3-in-1 Glue

Basic Supplies

Directions

STEP 1

Make 6”x5-1/4” burgundy top-fold card.

STEP 2

Cut 5-1/2”x4-3/4” teal damask paper panel and sponge edges with teal chalk ink. Using sewing machine, stitch around panel edges. Adhere panel to card.

STEP 3

Cut 5-1/2”x2” burgundy print paper strip, punch both long edges with first border punch, and sponge edges with burgundy ink. Adhere across bottom of teal panel.

STEP 4

Cut 5-1/2”x1-1/2” gold print paper strip, punch both long edges with second border punch, and sponge edges with burgundy ink. Wrap gold ribbon around center, adhering ends at back. Adhere strip to card.

STEP 5

Place mask over random areas of card and apply modeling paste using palette knife. Remove mask and let paste dry completely.

STEP 6

Cut lace to fit across top of card; adhere in gentle swag.

STEP 7

Using photo as guide, sponge edges of layered accents and silhouette with burgundy ink. Adhere elements to card as shown.

Tip

  • Use modeling paste with plastic masks and stencils to create interesting texture on cards and other projects; let dry completely after application.

Jeweled Tree Card

1. Make 3”x6” side-fold card from Canada Stripe cardstock.

2. Cut 2-1/2”x3” green cardstock panel and 2-1/2”x2-3/4” red diamond paper panel. Center red panel on green; adhere layers together. Emboss paper with dot texture and adhere to card.

3. Cut 3”x1-7/8” lime green paper panel; notch one end and adhere to card.

4. Cut 2-1/2”x7/8” sage green paper panel; adhere to card. Detail cut sentiment from Christmas paper; adhere to card.

5. Stamp green branch image onto white cardstock; detail cut image. Adhere to card. Cut small brown cardstock rectangle; adhere to base of branch.

6. Using liquid glue, adhere buttons and Dew Drops to branch. Let dry.

Tip

  • Be sure to use clear-drying liquid glue with Dew Drops embellishments for best effect.

Merry Christmas

With the holidays arriving so quickly, I decided to share a quick-and-easy holiday card that can be made within a few minutes.

Cut top-fold card base from white cardstock measuring 4-1/4″x5-1/2″. Stamp Hero Arts Dazzling Snowflake using Versamark on front of card.

Use makeup sponge to apply Blue STAEDTLER Karat Pastel Chalk and smear over Versamark image.

Trim edges of card 1/8″ on both sides of snowflake.

Ink up IndigoBlu “Looks Like Rain, Dear” deer stamp with Ranger Archival Ink Coffee and stamp over snowflake.

Ink up Hero Arts sentiment using same ink and stamp on top left corner.

Cut 4-1/4″x5-1/2″ from brown cardstock and mount to inside of front cover of card.

Accent with crystal gems.

A quick card to replicate and stock up for the holidays!

Glitter CandleLight Card

1. Emboss ivory card front using Nellie’s Christmas Rectangle Embossing Folder.

2. Die cut candle base from Joy! Crafts Red Linen Cardstock; set aside.

3. Remove one liner strip from 40mm double-sided tape; attach to red linen cardstock. Die cut wax dripping design and two flame sizes from cardstock/tape combination.

4. Add glitter to wax dripping design and large flame using the Fire Red Glitter and add Light Gold Glitter to smaller flame design. (Note: To add glitter, simply peel back tape liner, hold design near edge, and pour glitter over design. To burnish design, rub glitter with finger.)

5. Cut candle to 3″ height. Use back edge of scissors or tweezers to slightly curve cardstock from long edge to long edge to create dimension. Adhere candle to center of card front using 2mm foam pads in middle and 0.5mm foam pads near edges. (Note: This will allow candle to keep curve and appear dimensional.)

6. Adhere glittered wax drippings on top portion of candle as shown. Attach flame pieces to top of candle, first the larger flame using 0.5 mm foam pads and then the gold glittered flame using small piece of double-sided tape.

7. Punch three holly leaves from moss green cardstock; use sponge dauber to ink edges green. Adhere leaves to base of candle using 0.5mm foam pads.

8. Create gold line frame around card using sticker lines as shown in photo. Add “Merry Christmas” sentiment sticker on top left of card as shown.

Die cut circles from green and yellow paper. Die cut scalloped circle from red paper. Adhere green circle over striped strip. Layer and adhere remaining circle to card with foam tape.

STEP 3

Stamp deer onto kraft cardstock; heat emboss with Copper powder. Detail cut image; adhere to circles with foam tape.

STEP 4

Detail cut white heart from Borders paper; adhere to yellow circle as shown.

STEP 5

Tie ribbon bow; adhere to card with clear dot. Thread button with tan floss, leaving ends long. Adhere button to bow with clear dot.

Tip

Stamp and emboss matching reindeer onto envelopes, gift bags, tags, and kraft wrapping paper. Add red adhesive gems to their noses, if desired.

Cut 6” twine length. Add “JOY” banner stickers from Miniature sheet around center of twine as shown. Adhere twine across window so letters drape across opening. Adhere dotted paper panel to card front with permanent adhesive.

STEP 5

Add photo corners from Alpha + Bits sheet to card front using foam tape.

STEP 6

Die cut #5 oval from gift side of Gifts Galore paper; adhere inside card behind oval opening.

STEP 7

Detail cut tree from Cute Cuts paper; adhere to inside of card, centered on oval, using foam tape.

STEP 8

Cut 8” ribbon length and tie bow; trim ends. Adhere bow to tree top with clear dot.

Tip

Use dies to cut card windows in unique shapes like stars, hearts, or animals, too.

Directions

STEP 1

Make 4-1/2”x5-1/4” kraft side-fold card.

STEP 2

Cut green dot paper panel to fit bottom third of card, leaving narrow kraft border visible. Adhere panel to card.

STEP 3

Cut yellow, polka dot, and red strips to cover top two-thirds of card. Use pen to draw faux stitched border around each strip. Overlap and adhere strips to card, leaving same narrow kraft border visible.

STEP 4

Cut 4-1/2”x1” strip from striped side of Cute Cuts paper, being careful not to cut into desired penguin image on opposite side. Border punch bottom long edge and adhere to card over top edge of green dot panel.

STEP 5

Adhere journaling spot to card with foam tape.

STEP 6

Detail cut penguin from Cute Cuts paper; adhere to card with paper adhesive and foam tape.

STEP 7

Adhere sentiment stickers from Miniatures sticker sheet and Alpha & Bits sticker sheet to card with foam tape.

Tip

Replace penguin with another holiday character of choice cut from Cute Cuts paper.
