  • 14-count light blue Aida
  • Anchor 6-Strand Embroidery Floss
  • Kreinik #4 Very Fine Braid

Tools

  • #24 tapestry needle

Stitch Type

  • Backstitch: 1 strand
  • Cross-stitch: 2 strands floss or 1 strand braid
  • French knot: 1 strand (wrapped two times)

Approximate finished size: 7″x5″; Stitch Count 98 w x 70 h

Pledge of Allegiance

1. Print cross-stitch chart and key. (Note: The blue words “chart” and “key” are links. To access these, select the link, then download and print items.)

2. Using two strands floss or one strand braid, cross-stitch design centered on fabric.

3. Backstitch words using one strand Anchor 133 Dark Blue. Stitch all other backstitch using one strand Anchor 403 Black. Stitch French knots using one strand Anchor 133 Dark Blue.

4. Frame as desired.

Water Front Celebration

Materials

  • Denim blue 14-count Aida, 17” x 12”
  • DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss
  • Kreinik #4 Braid
  • Bulletin board, 18” x 24”
  • Cardboard
  • Narrow wooden lattice strips, four

Tools

  • Embroidery needle
  • Handsaw
  • Hammer and small brad nails

Basic Supplies

  • Backstitch: 2 strands floss or 1 strand #4 braid
  • Cross-stitch: 2 strands

Approximate Finished Design Size: 11-3⁄8”x6-3⁄8”; Stitch Count: 160 w x 90 h

Water Front Celebration

1. Print cross-stitch chart and key. (Note: The blue words “chart” and “key” are links. To access these, select the link, then download and print items.)

2. Cross-stitch design centered on fabric. Backstitch using two strands floss or one strand #4 braid as indicated.

3. Cut cardboard to fit into top portion of bulletin board. Center finished design over cardboard; turn over. Using needle and thread, zig-zag stitch edges together at back to secure. Place design in top portion of bulletin board.

4. To frame, measure and cut lattice strips to fit around design. (Note: If desired, apply wood finish to lattice strips prior to framing.) Align strips so they are flush with sides of bulletin board and nail into place with small brad nails, making sure design is securely held in place.

  • White 14-count Aida cloth, 4”x5”
  • DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss
  • Bar pin, 1” long

Tools

  • Iron, pressing cloth, and pressing surface
  • Beacon Adhesives Sparkling Stiffen Stuff Spray Fabric Stiffener
  • Beacon Adhesives Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive

Stitch Type

  • Cross-stitch: 2 strands

Basic Supplies

Approximate size is 2-5/8″x1-5/8″; Stitch Count: 38W x 24 H

Pin

1. To find center, fold cloth in half and in half again opposite way. Mark center with contrasting thread. Print chart and key. (Note: The blue words “chart” and “key” are links. To access these, select the link, then download and print items.) Use two strands of floss to cross-stitch design. Press from back through pressing cloth.

2. Trim fabric to 1⁄2” from stitched area. Spray front and back with stiffener; let dry. Trim fabric to 1⁄8” from stitched area.

3. Adhere pin to back.
