Basic Supplies

paper trimmer, scoring tool, scissors, ruler, pencil

Directions

Size

5-3/4”x5-1/2”

Card Front

1. Cut black cardstock to measure 11”x5-3/4”. Score at 5-1/2” and fold to create card base.

2. Cut 5-3/4”x5-1/2” white cardstock panel; adhere to card front with double-sided tape.

3. Cut 5-5/8”x5-3/8” panel from Birdcage Wedding Paper; adhere to card with doubled-sided tape, leaving a narrow white cardstock border visible.

4. Die cut two Hearts from white cardstock or Silver Pearl Paper. Adhere first heart to left side of card using glue pen. Using tiny foam dots, overlap and adhere second heart to card as shown.

5. Adhere Pearl Swirl to bottom left corner of card.

6. If desired, die cut Anja’s Label shape from white cardstock or Silver Pearl Paper, personalize sentiment using stickers or stamp, and adhere to card.

Card Inside

1. Cut Silver Pearl Paper to 11”x5-5/8” and die cut Pop-Up Church. This die is a panel die, as shown below, so be sure to cut paper to measurement specified; align paper carefully before cutting.

2. Adhere die-cut paper inside card, lining up center fold lines and leaving a narrow black cardstock border visible. Be careful not to glue or tape down church portion of die cut.

3. Cut Cake & Swirls Glitter Wedding Paper to 11”x5-5/8”, same as Silver Pearl Paper. Be sure cake design shows at bottom right corner of paper. Die cut Pop-Up Church and carefully separate paper panel along fold line. Adhere bottom portion inside bottom half of card; paper will fit nicely in and around church when card is opened.

4. To pop out the church, carefully crease on score lines where indicated to create dimensional church inside card.

5. Die cut two doves from Black Glitter Paper using Pop-Up Church die. Die cut two Hearts from Black Glitter Paper. Using photo as guide, adhere die cuts inside card as shown.

Tip

  • Carefully crease score lines on die-cut church and fold so church “pops out” from flat card base.

Gift Card Ideas for the Ladies

Welcome to the Crafts ‘n things Blog. Before we get started with the project today, it is time to announce the winners of the two $25 Inspired by Stamping Gift Cards!

The two winners as selected by Random.org are Emerald Perez and Barbara MacAskill! Thank you to everyone for all your kind comments. Emerald and Barbara, please contact Joanna (joanna@inspiredbystampin.com) to claim your prize!

As we get closer to May and June, many of us are sure to need gifts for the ladies in our lives. We may need a Mother’s Day gift, a wedding shower gift, or a graduation gift.

I made a card with a removable bookmark tag, but you can also add a gift card! The recipient can remove the gift card from the tag and still use the bookmark!

Tuck the bookmark and gift card into a decorated library card pocket.

Use stamped sentiments in a reading theme and attach a gift card to a local book store to the book mark. If you  have a friend or sister who loves tea or coffee, use tea-themed stamps and tuck a gift card to a local tea or coffee shop into the pocket.

Here is a look at the inside of the card where I stamped a reading-themed sentiment.

Color Fragments

Stampendous has this fun new product called Color Fragments. You may ask what are Color Fragments? Color Fragments are just that, bits of pure color you can glue on to any surface with any adhesive. Sprinkle them into melting embossing powders for an amazing Encrusted Jewel look. Crush with your fingers for smaller particles. I have used them on several projects and I love how they add texture, color, and a touch of whimsy to my projects.

Here is close-up view of a few of the different color fragment colors. They come in all different shades to coordinate with any project.

On this card, I used them to actually color in my butterfly after I had stamped the image.

A close-up view of the butterflies:

I applied a layer of Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Paper Glue to the surface of the butterfly, applying it only to the area I wanted to cover with the first shade of Color Fragments. After I put the glue on, I sprinkled the Color Fragments over the glue, pressed down with my fingers, and shook off the excess. I repeated the process until the butterfly was completely colored. Because the Color Fragments are thin, you can rub off excess fragment after the glue dries. When I had finished applying all of the colors, I added a layer of Beacon Adhesives Fast Finish to give the butterfly a glossy finish.

Products

  • Stampendous Stamps: Decorative Grate, Jumbo Cling Butterfly Trio, Leaf Sprig, Life is Art
  • Stampendous Color Fragments: Chiffon, Burgundy, Caramel
  • Stampendous Crushed Black Glitter
  • Inks: Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inks in red, brown, yellow, orange shades; black permanent ink pad
  • Beacon Adhesives: Zip Dry Paper Glue, Fast Finish

Here is a different card, created using a mix of the new colors released in January:

On this card, I just dripped glue across random areas of the card and sprinkled a mix of Color Fragments to coordinate with the colors in the image and the paper. I love the confetti effect this creates.

Products

  • Cardstock: green, white, peach
  • My Mind’s Eye, Memory Box
  • Stampendous Kiddo Birthday Stamp
  • Stampendous Color Fragments: Hot Lime, Rose, Hot Yellow, Teal
  • STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell Watercolor Pencils
  • Water brush
  • Paper distressing tool
  • Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Paper Glue

On my final project, you can see I just applied it to add texture in a coordinating color:

The Color Fragments were applied after I had added a layer of Embossing Enamel around the edges of the photos. I applied Versamark ink on the cardstock and sprinkled with Embossing Enamel. I heat embossed the enamel and, while it was still hot, I sprinkled the Color Fragments into the Embossing Enamel.
